It’s always a packed house for the Student Turf Bowl, held during the Carolinas Golf Course Superintendents Association (CGCSA) Conference and Show. During the event, teamsof college studentscompete in a fun and fast-paced knowledge competition. For us at The Aquatrols Company, supporting this premier event is a commitment to investing in the sharpest students and the future talent of our industry.
This year the turf bowl brought together 12 talented teams of turfgrass management students from six colleges: Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, Central Piedmont Community College, Clemson University, Horry Georgetown Community College, North Carolina State University and Sandhills Community College.
A huge congratulations to one of three teams from Clemson University who clinched the championship title! This team consisted of four outstanding GSTM students: Adam Hicks, Gavin Trout, Sean Crowe and Keegan Brown.
“The Carolinas GCSA Conference and Show is a great opportunity for today’s turfgrass students to experience one of the top events in our profession,” said Don Garrett, CGCS, The Walker Course at Clemson University. “They get to attend educational sessions, network on the trade show floor, and see firsthand the latest and greatest in the turfgrass industry. The Turf Bowl is a great opportunity for them to compete with their peers at other institutions and show what they are learning in the classroom and beyond.”
At The Aquatrols Company, we are committed to providing the innovative solutions that help professionals make every acre perform. The Turf Bowl highlights the same commitment to excellence, teamwork, and knowledge that we value in the turfgrass industry. By fostering a strong connection between academics and the working environment, these students are set up to be immediately competitive and highly valuable in the world of turf management.
“This was the closest competition we’ve ever seen,” said Chris Vincent, CGCS, Aquatrols’ Southeast Territory Manager and host of the Student Turf Bowl. “These students put in an incredible amount of preparation, and their performance is a testament to the strength of the programs shaping the next generation of turf professionals.”
A big thank you to all the people who helped make this event happen, including the participating colleges, the dedicated faculty, and the students who truly demonstrated their mastery of turfgrass science. A special shoutout to the Student Turf Bowl Administrator and Brainchild, Dr. Grady Miller of North Carolina State University.
The Aquatrols Company is honored to support this event, and we are excited to see the impact this next generation of talented “turfheads” will make.
