In a recent Blog post, we discussed how to manage high salinity issues in irrigation water and soils. One of our recommendations was to apply Aquaplex amino to improve water uptake and reduce physiological drought and other related salt stresses.
This dramatic photo from Dr. Erik Ervin (Virginia Tech) shows the effect Aquaplex amino can have on turfgrass that is regularly watered with high EC water. The plants to the left and center were each watered twice weekly with 16 dS/m salt-water while the control (on the right) received water from a low-salinity source. The bent turfgrass tolerance range is 3-6 dS/m in soil.
The turf to the far left was treated with Aquaplex amino at a rate of 4.5 oz/M every 14 days. After seven weeks, the differences in turf health and quality are readily apparent.
So how does it work? Aquaplex amino is a sprayable osmotic regulator that helps enhance turf’s natural ability to manage stress and tolerate high EC environments. AquaPlex amino works within the plant to improve water and nutrient uptake by balancing the plant’s osmotic potential.
