“The recuperative properties of that product – not just moisture retention but recuperation – just blew me away.”

We love it when our products help turf pros succeed. And we love it when they let us know so we can share their success with the rest of the world. Chad Allen of The Club at Chatham Hills, north of Indianapolis, is a perfect example.

In mid-June, Allen delivered the exact playing conditions wanted for his members and guests by, among other things, turning off his overhead irrigation system for most of the event week. This dry down was just right for fast-and-firm. But this dry down also came with a price.

“When you dry them that deep, you’re going to have some LDS and hot spots,” he said. “I knew we could bring them back, and I was confident in our agronomic plan, but I didn’t know how long the recovery would take.”

To help speed up the recovery process, local SiteOne rep Nate Fair suggested Aqueduct Flex. “I thought, ‘yeah, whatever,’ but later felt like I might as well try it.” Allen put Flex down in the impacted areas and watered it twice daily, once in the morning and later in the afternoon. That was it. What did he find?

“It has performed like I’ve never seen before,” he said. “The recuperative properties of that product – not just the moisture retention but recuperation – just blew me away.”

The first day after Flex, he noticed some healthier light green color coming up. The next day he had new growth. “By the third day, you would not have known that turf had been knocking on heaven’s door just a day or two earlier,” he said with a laugh. “The hot spots quickly turned from turf in trouble to normal dry-down conditions.”

He supplied a before and after picture that shows his first green, which he calls typical of the bumps and high spots where the LDS showed up. He describes it: “The first photo is the night of the final tournament round. The next photo is 72 hours later. I put down Aqueduct Flex, watered it in, and have been watering it in the mornings and the afternoons before we go home. Twice a day. I’m floored by how well this product works when applied properly.”

What was the bottom line? “I knew we could get them back, but I just didn’t know we could get them back that quickly.”

Allen has added a new item to the back of his cart: a shaker full of Flex and a handful of flags to mark where he sprinkles it. “I see a spot, hit it with the Flex, stick a flag on it, and call someone to water it in. It makes me feel so good to fix them on the fly.”

Thanks, Chad, for sharing your Flex story. We love hearing how our products help pros succeed.
