Smart Irrigation Month: Conducting an Irrigation Audit

July is Smart Irrigation Month, 31 days dedicated to intelligent water use in the agricultural and turfgrass industries. The month is sponsored by the Irrigation Association, of which Aquatrols is a proud member.

One of the most important steps in increasing irrigation efficiency on your golf course or sports field is to conduct an irrigation audit. An irrigation audit will help you determine where your water is actually going each time you irrigate. Armed with that knowledge, turfgrass managers can alter their irrigation practices to promote more uniforming wetting and reduce waste.

In a 2012 presentation, Aquatrols’ Larry Lennert offers step-by-step instructions for conducting an  irrigation audit and discusses what to do once you have your results.
